Khan was born in Frankfurt am Main. He works and lives as a music- and film-music producer, and performer. His musical aesthetics are glamourous, dub-like pop packed with samples and alienated voices – a musical tradition leading back to Grace Jones and Marianne Faithfull, the era of early 80’s. He moved to New York in 90s and founded the electronic record shop Temple Records in SOHO, hosted art events, ran three record labels (Temple Records in 1995, Super 8 in 1996 and El Turco Loco in 1997) the several record labels like Temple Records in 1995, Super 8 in 1996 and El Turco Loco in 1997. These were the years of the most experimental and open-minded period in Ambient-Electronica scene.
In 2000 he founded the project Captain Comatose, which was mainly known for the Disco Trash pieces $ 100 and Up In Flames.

Khant Buy Me Love on XLR8R
With Khan of Finland’s album NICHT-NUR-SEX, Shitkatapult will kick off its 2017 campaign and the year of its 20th anniversary—the album will also kick off a line of special artist releases from Si Begg, T.Raumschmiere, C. Brötzmann, and more throughout the year.
Named after a user profile on a gay forum named Gayromeo, NICHT-NUR-SEX—which translates to "more than sex"—is an album of dub-like pop that harkens back to the work of "Grace Jones and Marianne Faithfull in their Island Records era of '80/'81." A deeply personal and intriguing work that paints the story of an intense lifestyle. Like the album cover, which is an archive of Khan’s photos, the album is a collection of snapshots and secrets unveiled.
On the album, Khan has invited a cast of guest artists including narrator Joe Volume, Mexican rapper Alemán, Julia Kent, cello player of Anthony & the Johnsons, and Icelandic musician Urður, known from GusGus fame.
In support of the album, Khan has offered up "Khant Buy Me Love," available via WeTransfer below. You can purchase the album via Shitkatapult's store on March 31.

KHAN OF FINLAND announces new studio album "NICHT-NUR-SEX" out March 31st 2017 on Shitkatapult
Khan Of Finland: »NICHT-NUR-SEX« (Shitkatapult, Strike 162, 2017)
»NICHT-NUR-SEX« is a user profile on a literally gay forum named Gayromeo that's serving the purpose of organizing its users needs for fleshly pleasures. The transvestite's user name is programmatic, has an explicit meaning: it's more than sex! That breakthrough in superficiality appearing also proclaims Khan of Finland aka Can Oral – artist- and real name go hand in hand. Of course it's about sex. There's more than that, though. The title previews an album that forces bystanders to take a deeper look but it also clearly states: here a few points can be found sex isn't satisfying without. Khan's musical aesthetics are glamourous, dub-like pop packed with samples and alienated voices – a musical tradition leading back to Grace Jones and Marianne Faithfull in their Island Records era of '80/81. We're able to hear moaned phrases, phrased moaning, artificial ejaculation.
»NICHT-NUR-SEX« creates a melange of an intense life-style, here the untamed before-and-after finds a musical counterpart as well as the in-between finds a starting point. Even the album cover is held in a similar fashion: The archive of Khan's snapshots mirrors our voyeurism so we finally recognize we're most intrigued by picky details found in the hidden. Between fragments and snapshots secrets unveil, obsessions materialize. And desires dance. To prove this view is of political nature the song »H&M Freedom« depicts various forms, shapes and conditions of dependency in today's world of consumerism.
Khan's a page that's got to be written on from both sides regarding it's fidgety character in music and pictures: the Berlin based artist produces, sings every so often, remixes, releases his own records under his finish moniker or as a member of a band named Wild Style Lion, has recently formed a bridge between electronic- and guitar-music with the aid of J. Mascis and Kim Gordon, has been a club owner in NYC, organized events at the infamous Berghain, plays theater, travels with Goethe – or speaking metaphorically: melodizes live!
In associative cut-ups which intersect organically Khan has invited a legion of guest artists: Joe Volume, swinging between Tom Waits and Michael Gira, performing the cinematic character of the album with his narrating voice, Mexican rapper Alemán, focussing his fiery solar beam onto Khan's album, Julia Kent, cello player of Anthony & the Johnsons, creating deepness with her instrument and finally the very present Icelandic musician Urður, known from GusGus featured on three tracks. Through Khan's arrangement a diverse interdependency of emotions is created compiling the ten tracks into a listening-album where a soundtrack can be found. A soundtrack for our sexuality – and basically everything in between!

Wild Style Lion live @ Motion/Bristol U.K. review in Freq Magazine
A duo from Berlin, relatively young and good-looking, wearing caps and looking cool, one controlling the rhythms and bass and the other with a hot electric guitar. The rhythm machine starts and immediately you feel it in the gut. The guitar player is fantastic but subtle, and for the first three of the six tracks they play, Philipp Virus‘s heavily phased guitar lines weave in and out of the waves of belly-bursting bass and staccato drums like metal candyfloss-enmeshed gears as the singer, Khan Of Finland, serenaded us. If you could cross Alan Vega with Matt Monro, you are some way there, a touch of the street poet with an aura of subtlety. The rhythm tracks change song by song, one with insistent hi-hat and bass dirge, while the fourth track, which originally had Kim Gordon as vocalist, introduces a metallic industrial rhythm with the guitar appearing out of the shadows, with beautifully controlled feedback blowing across the landscape. The vibe of this track came across as if they were auditioning for David Lynch and they would not have looked out of place in the Twin Peaks roadhouse. On the final track, the vocals were echoed to a massive degree and with the feedback sweeping overhead, it was as if we were being divebombed by a squadron of screeching eagles. It makes for a dizzying finale and although they only played six tracks, they were a worthy addition to the lineup.
